Digital signage on Android TV

The onday player for Android TV runs full-screen, keeps the display awake and can lock a device into kiosk mode.

Android TV and Google TV devices are the most capable way to run onday. That covers TVs with Android built in and the many low-cost boxes and sticks that plug into an HDMI port.

The native player is available on Google Play and as a direct APK download.

Kiosk mode in plain terms

Kiosk mode is a one-time step per device, done from a computer with adb. Android only allows it on a device with no accounts signed in, so do it on a new or factory-reset device. The setup guide has the exact command.

Stop the TV sleeping

The player keeps the screen awake, but a TV’s own energy-saving timer can still switch it off after a few hours. Turn off “Auto Power Off” or “Eco” mode in the TV’s settings.
