Digital signage on Amazon Fire TV

A Fire TV Stick is one of the cheapest ways to turn an ordinary TV into a managed sign.

A Fire TV Stick plugs into any HDMI port and connects over Wi-Fi. With onday’s web player open in Amazon’s Silk browser it shows your scheduled content full-screen.

Fire OS is based on Android, so the onday Android APK can also be sideloaded. We suggest trying it on your own model before you roll it out widely.

Low-cost hardware

Add a stick to a TV you already own. No dedicated media player is needed.

Pair with a code

Open onday.uk/player, enter the code from your dashboard and the screen is online.

Playlists and schedules

Images, video and web pages, scheduled by day and time.

Managed remotely

Change content from anywhere without touching the stick again.

Set it up

  1. Plug in the Fire TV Stick and connect it to Wi-Fi
  2. Install the Silk browser from the Fire TV app store if it is not already there

Good to know

Fire TV devices are built for home viewing. For a screen that must run all day, set the screensaver and sleep options to “Never” in the Fire TV settings, and use the power adapter supplied with the stick, not the TV’s USB port.

For unattended 24/7 use where you want the player to restart by itself after a power cut, an Android TV device in kiosk mode is the more dependable choice.
